Team Bainbridge take on an Ultra Challenge
1st March 2019
For some of our amazing support workers, transforming lives day (and night) just isn’t enough for them, as they take on an Ultra Challenge to raise money for a new sensory room.
Thomas, Will, Louise, Hannah, Keira and Rebecca, support workers at our Bainbridge Close service in Norfolk, will be walking or running either the 25km or 50km race in the Peak District Ultra Challenge on 13 July 2019.
“We all wanted to improve our level of fitness, so when we saw the Peak District Ultra Challenge we thought we could get fit and raise money for FitzRoy at the same time. I’m doing the 50km! We are raising money for a brand new multi-sensory room for the people we support. I’m running a half marathon on Sunday and we’ve just done a fundraising car wash. People have already started to donate.
“I was a bit daunted at first, but we’re already feeling the benefits of the training. We’re really excited and looking forward to the day. I would recommend it to anyone, because when you put your mind to something you can achieve it. I feel better physically and mentally too.
“At FitzRoy we provide excellent care and support for people with learning disabilities and autism, helping them to make friends, enjoy relationships, experience the joys of independence or just do the simplest of things that make a difference to their everyday lives. A sensory room is therapeutic, calming environment and a safe place to liberate people from their wheelchairs.”
