Sylvia Malphus is the Deputy Manager at Whitegates View and The Cottage, our registered care home in Liss. Set in the beautiful countryside of east Hampshire, the service is currently looking to recruit more support workers to join the team. Sylvia tells us what it’s like to work there:
“We have a great team working at Whitegates View and The Cottage. We value new ideas and encourage everyone’s input.
“Every day as a support worker is different. The role is very varied, but will often involve supporting people with daily living tasks such as preparing meals, tidying their home, administering medication and accompanying them to day services. We also try lots of fun activities with the people we support from swimming and fishing to aromatherapy sessions and holidays, meals out and more.”
The residents here are a great bunch of people. They all have their own individual personalities and are lovely to work with. The best thing is seeing their faces light up when they enjoy trying a new activity.
“You don’t need experience for the role of support worker. What we really look for is someone who is caring, willing and enthusiastic about improving the lives of people with disabilities.”
