Therapy dog relaxes people with learning disabilities in Kent

The residents at FitzRoy The Croft in Kent have Jake the dog to visit once a week. Their four legged friend is a Pets As Therapy dog.

Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a volunteer led charity where people work with their own pets to bring joy, comfort and companionship to many people who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly animal. The service is also free.

Everyone at The Croft looks forward to Natasha and her dog Jake coming to visit. George and Ian are particularly fond of Jake, who is very easy going and really enjoys the interaction with all the residents. Stroking and fussing over Jake makes everyone feel very relaxed, calm, and happy. There are always plenty of smiles when he is here!

Having a PAT dog has been so popular that we recommended it to Boldshaves Oast, another FitzRoy residential care home in Kent, who now have weekly visits from Natasha and Jake too! – Sharon Harrison, Deputy Manager, FitzRoy Kent
