Inspired by the work being done by FitzRoy staff at Whitegates, a FitzRoy Registered Care service in Hampshire, Anne is delighted that the money she raised running the London Marathon will be used to provide much-needed equipment to give the residents independence and a good quality of life.

“I felt very proud to be on the start line of London Marathon 2014. To get to that point I had completed around 350 miles in training runs over the wettest winter the UK has ever seen. The crowd were with me every step of the way and I finished in 5.48.57 which was within my goal of 6 hours. I felt very emotional crossing that line. It has been an amazing journey, I have been blown away by people’s generous support donating for Fitzroy. It’s a worthwhile charity and I am proud to have been able to help.”

FitzRoy’s Fundraising Manager, Jan Deane, knows the importance of raising money for the people FitzRoy support. “With this money we will be able to develop the sensory garden which so many of the residents enjoy. We plan to put in a wheelchair platform swing, raised beds with herbs, and to extend the path to allow everyone to reach all the corners of the garden. We quite simply couldn’t have done this without Anne.”

Anna Galliford, Chief Executive FitzRoy, is delighted.
“Without the support of fundraisers like Anne, FitzRoy wouldn’t be able to buy assistive technology for the people we support, and it really does make such a big difference to their lives. All FitzRoy staff and service users would like to say a big thank you to Anne for taking on the challenge that is the London Marathon and a huge well done for completing it.”
