Bankers turned gardeners - FitzRoy

Bankers turned gardeners

A massive thank you to the Lloyds Bank volunteers who gave the garden of a FitzRoy residential home in Norwich an amazing makeover last week.

I got to the house at 9am not knowing what to expect and people were already there getting stuck in! The Lloyds volunteering team slowly grew as more turned up bearing tools for the job.

The garden wraps around the entire house and is on a steep slope, so the volunteers had a big challenge on their hands! The beds were overgrown with weeds, and the grass was in dire need of a cut “ all things busy Support Workers don’t have time to do.

Led by Stephen from Lloyds, the full team of about 15 volunteers started ripping out weeds, painting fences and planting new, low maintenance shrubs and plants. They wanted to make sure the new garden would look just as good a year later without too much hard work to maintain it.

Some of the residents came out to watch the volunteers hard at work with a cuppa and a cake, and loved seeing their garden being transformed.

After a long day of hard work, the garden looked incredible! Everyone can now look out of their bedroom windows to see a beautiful tidy garden rather than weeds. Well done Lloyds team, what a fantastic job!
