Recruitment Troop
We believe the people we support should have the opportunity to be part of selecting our staff .The Recruitment Troop was an innovative project created to personalise the selection process for Support Workers. It involved five people from different services across the country with varying needs.
The Recruitment Troop has looked at every stage of the recruitment process, in particular how people want to be treated by support workers and how this can be communicated effectively. They have replaced the old job descriptions and re-written our application forms so it’s clear what we all expect from new staff. Members also interviewed candidates for the Chief Executive role in 2008, and subsequently for the role of Finance Director.
The Recruitment Troop has found ways of giving power and control back to people with learning disabilities. We make sure that the people we support will still be safe and that all the necessary checks and safeguards are in place, giving them the choice of which Support Workers join the FitzRoy team.
