How we add value

An individual’s care package covers the basic elements of their accommodation, food and daily support.

At FitzRoy, the care we provide goes one step further.

We give the people we support opportunities to take up new challenges, to live in a comfortable environment and to play a valuable role in their community. The extras that add value to people’s lives are the things that really matter to us.

Our fundraised income goes towards specific items that allow people with learning disabilities to live as independently as they can, while gaining confidence and a sense of wellbeing. These items include:

  • Sensory rooms and gardens
  • Computer suites
  • Tracking hoists
  • Day trips and holidays
  • Tools and equipment for horticultural and environmental projects
  • Assistive technology around the home, such as a talking microwave
  • And many more

And we don’t stop there. Our major capital appeals provide income to build new homes or to refurbish existing ones. We have also created a range of projects to fully include the people we support and help them to have a voice.

These projects include:

  • Supported Volunteering – we provide opportunities for everyone we support to volunteer in their local community.

  • Community Volunteers – we have over 100 volunteers who enrich lives by giving their time and skills.

  • FitzRoy Forums – our regional and national forums are well established and provide a true voice for people we support.

  • Recruitment Troop – a group of people we support, from across the three regions, have been supported to update procedures for new staff and ensure the voice of the people we support is fully represented in the process.
